Welwyn Hatfield Women’s Refuge & Support Services Summer Fete
Members of the BTS Special Works team together with Morgan Sindall Property Services (MSPS) attended a fundraising summer fete for Welwyn Hatfield Women’s Refuge & Support Services. We were delighted to be invited to this event and it was great to see the new patio and garden, which we helped to create, being used for such a fantastic, meaningful cause.
Chloe Sykes, Social Value Officer at MSPS, presented the Refuge with a £750 donation on behalf of the Morgan Sindall Decarbonisation and Retrofit team working on the Welwyn & Hatfield Borough Council contract. The amount was generously raised by their subcontractors and the funds will go towards purchasing vital play-equipment and resources for the women and children who are fleeing abuse and are supported by the Refuge.
The Refuge does extraordinary work, providing safe accommodation, emotional and practical support and inspiring survivors to live free from violence and fear. We are proud to contribute to their mission and ongoing efforts.
Men’s Sheds Cedar Park
Members of the BTS Special Works team had a great morning volunteering at the beautiful Cedars Park, Cheshunt alongside Andy from the inspiring organisation Men’s Sheds and the team at Greyline.
Together, we rolled up our sleeves to help with park maintenance by oiling the wooden animal sculptures and cutting back overgrown plants. It was great fun and a rewarding way to support Men’s Sheds and all the fantastic work they do.
Men’s Sheds is an incredible organisation that champions men’s health and wellbeing, tackling loneliness and social isolation by encouraging people to come together to make, repair and repurpose. Their work supports local projects and builds meaningful connections.
It was a fantastic and inspiring way to round off the week, outdoors in the fresh air, meeting great people and contributing to a meaningful cause. Huge thanks to Andy from Men’s Sheds, Elise and the team at Greyline and Mario and Barry from DH Liquid Coatings Ltd.
Welwyn & Hatfield Women’s Refuge
The BTS Special Works team spent a fantastic afternoon volunteering at Welwyn & Hatfield Women’s Refuge with Morgan Sindall Property Services. Together we worked to rejuvenate the garden by planting flowers and shrubs and creating a small herb garden at the end of one of the flowerbeds.
We hope this collaborative effort has created a vibrant, tranquil and welcoming outdoor space for the women and children to enjoy. Earlier this month, BTS Special Works had installed a new patio area, which has transformed the space in the centre of the complex.
A big thank you to the social value team at Morgan Sindall Property Services for inviting us to take part. We really enjoyed the afternoon and look forward to helping out at future volunteering events.
Malthouse Court, St Albans
Members of the BTS Special Works team and representatives from Morgan Sindall Property Services spent a great morning carrying out some gardening in the residents’ communal garden at Malthouse Court in St Albans. This joint effort aimed to create a vibrant, welcoming space for all residents to enjoy.
The garden was refreshed with a variety of herbs and flowers and the topsoil was replenished. We created a dedicated herb garden, planting basil, rosemary, coriander and other aromatic herbs, which will provide residents with fresh, organic herbs. An assortment of new flowers were also planted in the flowerbeds providing an additional splash of colour. We hope we have created a space where residents can sit outside in a peaceful environment, relax and enjoy the nature.
BTS Special Works also donated a lovely garden bench and some gardening tools to the residents. Thank you, Chloe Sykes, Social Value Officer at Morgan Sindall Property Services, for inviting us along. We thoroughly enjoyed it!
